Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are awarded to pupils who excel academically.

Academic Scholarships tend to be awarded up to the value of 20% of fees, based on the results of the entrance examination and interview.

Eligibility criteria and application process

The scholarships are awarded to those who excel academically as measured through entrance examination performance and also in their interview. There is no separate application process as eligible candidates will be contacted following the entrance examination.

Academic Scholarships, usually up to the value of 20% of fees, are usually awarded to pupils moving into or joining the Sixth Form on the basis of excellent work throughout the lower years at Warwick School and GCSE grades. External candidates can apply for an academic scholarship when they make their application to the school

Academic scholarship applications from external candidates should be submitted via the standard application process by Friday 22 January by ticking the box to indicate interest in the scholarship.

Any applications received after the deadline will be considered for a place in the Sixth Form, but will not be considered for an academic scholarship.

Boys will then be invited to Warwick School to sit for an assessment and have an interview on Friday 29 January 2027.

We are delighted to offer the King Henry VIII Scholarships which are open to pupils living in the CV34 postcode who are joining our senior schools in Year 7 or Year 12.

The scholarships – which usually involve a fee discount of 10% – aim to recognise those young people who demonstrate outstanding achievements or the potential to do so – whether that be academic achievement or all-around achievement more generally.

As a Foundation, we are proud to be a part of Warwick, and work closely with our community on a number of initiatives that aim to enable our community to realise their potential. We are committed to projects which make a difference to the lives of people who live in Warwick and the surrounding areas, and we are now proud to introduce the King Henry VIII Scholarships. These scholarships will, we hope, support talented local children to reach their full potential.

Eligibility criteria and application process

The King Henry VIII Scholarships can be awarded to either children who currently attend one of the Foundation schools, or children joining the Foundation at Year 7 or Year 12.
Unlike bursaries, the King Henry VIII Scholarships are not means-tested, but will be subject to annual review. In common with bursaries, they are competitive in nature. In addition, recipients must remain resident in CV34 for the duration of their time in the school to continue to benefit from this award.

To make an application for a King Henry VIII Scholarship, families must apply to the school they are interested in by the earlier scholarships’ deadline and fill out the additional scholarships information. For candidates progressing from a Foundation school, they must complete the separate scholarships form which will be emailed to them in the academic year preceding entrance assessments.

Candidates will then sit the entrance examination as normal (or attend an interview for Y12 entry) and the Head will review all scholarship applications following this and pupils will be invited back to school for scholarship assessments and interviews to determine which pupils are offered a scholarship.

Our All-round Scholarships are awarded to pupils who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement alongside the potential to make a significant contribution to wider school life.

These scholarships offer up to 20% fee remission and can be applied for as part of the standard application process. In addition to strong academic performance, scholars should show promise in two of the following areas:
• Sport
• Drama
• Music
• Art

Eligibility criteria and application process

All-rounder scholarships are offered only in Year 7, and an application should be submitted by Sunday 4 October for Year 7 September 2027 entry.
To be considered for an all-rounder scholarship, please tick the all-rounder scholarship box on the application form and select two subjects from the following: Art, Music, Sport or Drama.

Please note that if you live in CV34, you will automatically be directed to the King Henry VIII application form, which follows the same process and assessment criteria.
Boys are then invited in for scholarship assessment day on the Wednesday 4 November, where they will be assessed in their chosen subjects. Further details regarding the assessments, will be provided during the autumn term.

To be awarded an all-rounder scholarship/King Henry VIII Scholarship, pupils are expected to excel in their two chosen subjects, as well as their entrance exams.

Music Scholars form a pivotal component of Warwick School’s Music Department. Being talented instrumentalists and singers, with a strong drive to better both themselves in their musical pursuits as well as be positive leaders in their cohorts for musical involvement, we expect our scholars to be role models for Music within and beyond the gates of Warwick School. Our Music Scholars lead by example, being committed to and enthusiastic about ensemble music-making as well as taking solo opportunities throughout the year.

Music Scholars will routinely take Music as an academic pursuit at GCSE level and are encouraged to study Music at A Level. They are expected to perform three solos throughout the year and engage in an annual reflection and review of their contribution to the musical community, as well as analyse their own development.

All Music Scholars receive one instrumental lesson per week free of charge as an investment by the school to their musical development and some scholars will also be awarded 10% or 20% of fees.

Eligibility criteria and application process

At audition, boys are assessed not only on present musical aptitude, but also on their potential, their musical passion and general musicianship. It is not necessarily the case that the most qualified boys will achieve the highest awards; we are principally invested in helping musically-minded and talented boys who are passionate about their instrument and music in general.

Year 7 Music Scholarship

Grade 3 Distinction standard (in-person exam) on one or more instruments for ABRSM (Practical exam), Trinity, Rock School or Jazz Syllabi (Trinity preferred)

Audition requirements for Year 7

1. Perform one prepared piece per instrument (NB two contrasting pieces if applying on only one instrument)
2. Sight reading
3. Aural tests
4. Interview (including general musicianship)

Year 9 Music Scholarship

Grade 5 Distinction standard (inperson exam) on one or more instruments for ABRSM (Practical exam), Trinity, Rock School or Jazz Syllabi (Trinity preferred)

Audition requirements for Year 9

1. Perform one prepared piece per instrument (NB two contrasting pieces if applying on only one instrument)
