How to join Warwick School

If you are looking for a place in Year 8 or Year 9, the first step is to enquire with our Admissions team about the availability of places in these year groups. We do have a number of places for boys joining in Year 9 each year, and we do also admit boys into Year 8 where there is space. Our Admissions team will be able to tell you if there are places in the year group of interest.

Once you have established that there is space in the year group, we would recommend your next step to be a visit to Warwick School if you have not already been. This can be in the form of a private tour during the school day, or on an open day. Many families do both so they can experience every aspect of Warwick School. We would be delighted to welcome you to our school, so please contact our Admissions team to organise this or find upcoming events on our events page. These events are a great opportunity to find answers to your questions, whilst our Admissions team will also be happy to talk to you about anything you want to know.

When you are satisfied that Warwick School is the right place for your son, then it’s time to make an application and pay the registration fee. You can do this via our simple online form. The main deadline for Year 9 applications is usually in the January ahead of joining in September, although if we have space we do also run additional assessment days. These deadlines for each year can be found on our key dates pages. We run assessments for other year groups on a more ad hoc basis if we have spaces and when we have applicants for those spaces.

Once we have your application, you will be invited to an assessment day. Year 9 applicants will sit papers in English, mathematics, verbal reasoning and science.

All boys applying to Warwick School will take part in a short interview with a senior member of staff at the School. This may happen on the same day as the assessment but if we have a larger number of candidates, it may be necessary to invite boys back in on a different day. We will communicate this to you clearly at the time.

We will make offers as promptly as possible after the assessments and interviews. We will communicate with you whether your son is being offered a place or not and the offers will be made via email using the email addresses provided when you registered.

If you have been made an offer of a place, we will ask you to accept your place by a deadline which is dependent on the time of year. This will be clearly communicated on your offer letter. To accept your place, we require a copy of the acceptance form signed by all parents with parental responsibility unless we already know that this is not possible (typed signatures are not permitted). We will also ask for payment of the acceptance deposit at the same time – more details on this can be found in your offer letter.

Once we have your acceptance forms and your deposit, you are ready to become a part of our Warwick School community. More details about your son’s start at Warwick School will be sent between acceptance of the offer and his start date.

If you are making a late application for Year 12 (after the initial deadline), please contact our Admissions team first to ensure we have spaces before registering.

This will usually happen shortly after your application has been received and you will be sent an invitation for your son’s specific timeslot. We will also require a report from your son’s current school with predicted GCSE grades to help us to assess whether we can offer based on the A-Level choices he has made. All candidates must also meet the academic requirements for the sixth form.

When we have made a decision about whether we can offer a conditional place, we will be in touch. At this stage, offers to study in the Sixth Form are conditional because we require the applicant to attain the required grades in their GCSEs. We will communicate with you whether your son is being offered a place or not and the offers will be made via email using the email addresses provided when you registered.

If you have been made a conditional offer of a place, we will ask you to accept your place by a deadline which will be clearly communicated on your offer letter. To accept your place, we require a copy of the acceptance form signed by all parents with parental

responsibility unless we already know that this is not possible (typed signatures are not permitted). We will also ask for payment of the acceptance deposit at the same time – more details on this can be found in your offer letter.

On GCSE results day, we require proof of your son’s GCSE grades to confirm his place at Warwick School. We ask that these are sent to us as soon as possible so that we can begin the enrolment process for his time at Warwick School to start as smoothly as possible. If he has not met the academic requirements of his offer, depending on his grades, it may be possible to change his A Level subject choices. If this is not the case, or he does not want to change, then you will be released from the terms of the contract only if the academic requirements of his offer have not been met.

If your son’s place is confirmed, he is ready to become a part of our Warwick School community and full details about the start of term will be communicated to you.

We are delighted to welcome boys from Year 9 upwards to become boarders at Warwick School. If you are applying as a UK pupil and are currently at a UK school, then you will follow the process above for the relevant year group. If you are applying as an overseas pupil and / or you are currently at a school overseas, the process will be slightly different.

The first step is to check that we have space in the year group of interest. We typically admit boarders into Year 9 and Year 10 (for GCSES) and Year 12 (for A-Levels). Once you have done that, you may wish to arrange either an in-person visit, if you are likely to be in the UK, an online meeting, or meet one of the School’s representatives abroad. Whichever route you chose, our Admissions team will be able to organise visits and meetings, answer all of your questions, put you in touch with our boarding team and introduce you to life in Warwick.

As soon as we have your registration form, we will be in touch. There are no set deadlines for boarding places but with a limited number of beds in our boarding house, places do fill fast.

Once we have your application, we will contact you or your agent to arrange entrance assessments – these will be in English and mathematics. The mathematics paper for Year 12 will depend on the subjects the student wishes to pursue at A-Level. The assessments are carried out online and can be done in-person at Warwick, at an applicant’s current school or agent’s offices if they are willing to invigilate, or via remote invigilation.

For those boys who require sponsorship for their visas to study at Warwick, we will send additional paperwork to be completed before we can issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to support the visa process. Subject to the satisfactory completion of this paperwork, and all UKVI requirements being met, we will be able to issue this CAS near the start of the summer term before your son joins us.
